The Haunted Forest Walk

Haunted Forest Walk in Lapland with Storytelling and Evening Atmosphere

Step into a darker side of Lapland on a haunted forest walk near Rovaniemi, where eerie installations, local ghost stories, and a warming fire come together in one unusual evening experience.

What to Expect during your Haunted Forest Walk

The Haunted Walk takes place on a forest trail near Rovaniemi and is built around Arctic ghost stories, dark visual art, and unsettling scenes placed along the route. As you walk through the forest, you pass installations such as the Inn of the Dead, ghost figures, and a walkthrough haunted house, with the experience shaped more by atmosphere and imagination than by sudden scares. It is a creative evening activity for travelers looking for something stranger and less traditional than the usual Lapland program.

The experience is usually arranged as a small-group outing and includes an informative story about the haunted walk itself. After the trail, there is time to visit the Gallery of Dark Arts, where horror-inspired art and other unusual pieces are on display, and to warm up with hot drinks by the open fire, or in a hut if the weather is very cold. On clear nights, there may also be a chance to see the northern lights during the visit.

The full tour lasts around three hours including transfers from Rovaniemi, with travel time of about 40 minutes each way. The standard small-group format has space for up to eight guests, while private tours can also be arranged on other days. Warm clothing is recommended, and the walk is not generally recommended for children under 12 unless accompanied by parents.

Adventure and Flexibility

This experience works especially well for adults, older children, and travelers who enjoy unusual settings, dark storytelling, and art-led visits rather than high-adrenaline horror. The atmosphere is more eerie than extreme, which makes it a good fit for those looking for something imaginative and different in the evening.

Because it can be arranged either as a standard small-group tour or privately, the visit is easy to shape around different plans in the Rovaniemi area. This makes it flexible enough for travelers who want a standalone evening activity or something paired with dinner or other nighttime experiences.
