AERA – Northern Lights Cabins near Tromsø
AERA is a northern lights resort set along a fjord roughly 30 minutes from Tromsø, offering a collection of glass cabins, an aurora igloo, and cabin-style accommodation designed for unobstructed sky views, with dinner served directly to guests and a Sami-style lavvu for communal dining.
ÆRA sits directly on the fjord outside Tromsø, chosen for its distance from city lights and its wide, open views of the sky. The Aurora Cabin with one bedroom is the most spacious option at 30 m², sleeping up to three guests with a separate bedroom, living room, kitchenette, and a large window facing the sea. The Aurora Glass Cabin is a more compact 18 m² option for two, with a private entrance, kitchenette, and en-suite bathroom. The Panorama Glass Lodge, designed with partners in Iceland, offers panoramic views from bed at 24 m², with a private jacuzzi available in a limited number of cabins. The Aurora Igloo takes a different approach, more adventurous. It is built from insulated canvas with handcrafted furniture, a fireplace, and electric heating, though it has no en-suite bathroom, with shared facilities located a short walk away.
Stays can include à la carte breakfast in bed, an aurora alarm, snowshoes, a backpack for easy exploration, and sauna access, with firewood also available for the Aurora Cabin and Aurora Igloo. Dinner is served directly to each cabin, allowing guests to watch for the northern lights from indoors, with a choice of meat, fish, or vegetarian dishes. Guests can also dine in the property's lavvu, a traditional Sami-style tent with a central fire, where hosts serve hot drinks and keep watch for aurora activity. A restaurant on site serves lunch daily.
