Lumo Resort – Glass-Roofed Rooms in Ruka-Kuusamo

Lumo Resort is a glass-roofed accommodation set in the Ruka-Kuusamo wilderness, nine minutes from Kuusamo Airport. Rooms include Aurora Room, Aurora Spa Room, and the upcoming Aurora Suite, alongside The Bear, a signature restaurant led by acclaimed Finnish chefs, all set within one of Finland's cleanest-air regions.

Lumo Resort offers three room categories, each with a glass ceiling for sky and northern lights viewing. The Aurora Room is a 28 m² space for up to four guests, with a kitchenette, seating area, and underfloor heating. The Aurora Spa Room shares the same layout and size but adds a private outdoor hot tub for a more relaxed stay. From December 2026, the Aurora Suite will offer a more expansive two-bedroom, two-bathroom layout with a living room, kitchen, fireplace, freestanding bathtub, and outdoor jacuzzi.

Dining is centred on The Bear, the resort's signature restaurant, with meals included throughout the stay. The kitchen is led by Kim Mikkola, formerly of Noma in Copenhagen and founder of the Michelin-starred Inari in Helsinki, alongside chef Esa Vartiainen. The cuisine draws on wild game, fish, foraged mushrooms, and berries sourced from the surrounding land, served as a seasonal breakfast, an à la carte lunch, and a three-course dinner each evening.

Lumo Resort sits in the Ruka-Kuusamo region, an area known for its Sámi heritage and some of the cleanest air in the world, with low light pollution supporting good conditions for viewing the northern lights. On site, guests can make use of a lighted forest trail for walking or cross-country skiing, a sledding slope, a tubing hill, and a lakeside wood-heated sauna with an ice-swimming hole. A traditional Lapland kota offers a warm spot for coffee and pancakes by the fire, and marked snowshoeing and snowmobile routes lead directly from the resort into the surrounding wilderness.
