Fjellborg Arctic Lodge
Fjellborg Arctic Lodge is a remote wilderness retreat in Swedish Lapland, reached by dog sled through the surrounding forest to the shores of Lake Väkkärä. Guests have exclusive use of the deluxe Master Cabin, with gourmet dining based on local Lappish ingredients.
Fjellborg Arctic Lodge is located 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, east of Kiruna and north of Jukkasjärvi, in uninterrupted wilderness on the shore of Lake Väkkärä. Guests arrive at Kiruna Airport and travel first to the Fjellborg Homestead in Poikkijärvi, before continuing the final stretch to the lodge by dog sled, either as a passenger or driving their own team. The journey takes about an hour and offers a memorable first introduction to the surrounding landscape. Once at the lodge, guests have exclusive use of the deluxe Master Cabin, with a ground floor entertaining area and wood-burner, three bedrooms with bunk beds, and a first-floor master bedroom with a king-size bed. A sauna and bathroom with shower overlook the lake, as do all bedrooms in the cabin.
Dining draws on locally sourced fish, game, vegetables, berries, and mushrooms, prepared by the lodge's chef in a style rooted in Lappish cuisine, with dietary requirements accommodated on request. Meals can be enjoyed privately in the Master Cabin or in the adjacent Main Lodge, which also has a lounge for drinks and quiet evenings. The lodge is open from November through April, a season that includes the polar night, the brightening days of March and April, and clear skies well suited to viewing the northern lights directly from the property.
