Winter Stay for Two in Pyhä

Pyhä is quieter than Levi, less visited than Rovaniemi, and all the better for it. This six-night itinerary splits the stay between two very different properties, spending the first three nights at Kultakero, a slope-side base with direct access to Pyhä's ski trails and services, before moving to Sunday Morning Resort, a small and intimate lakeside hideaway by Lake Pyhäjärvi where the pace slows and the forest takes over. Arrival at the Fell

You'll land in Rovaniemi and collect your winter clothing before transferring to Kultakero, a slope-side property at the base of Pyhä Fell with direct access to the ski lifts and trails. Check into your Rakka room, with its large windows looking out over the mountain village, and settle in for the first part of the trip.

Reindeer and the Northern Sky

The morning takes you to a local reindeer farm for a group visit with a guided sleigh ride, time spent with the herd, and hot drinks included. The afternoon is free to explore the fell on skis or on foot. In the evening, head out on a group northern lights hunt, adjusting the route throughout the night to track the clearest skies, with hot drinks and snacks included along the way.

A Morning on Snowshoes

Strap on your snowshoes and head out with a guide through the winter forest, with hot drinks and snacks included. The pace is easy and the surroundings are quiet. The afternoon is free to make use of the ski facilities or simply rest before your final evening at Kultakero.

The Amethyst Mine and a New Base

After checking out of Kultakero, the day takes you to the Amethyst Mine, a cultural stop on the way to your next property. The mine at Lampivaara is the only amethyst mine in Europe open to the public, reached by a snowtrain through the winter forest. You can try your hand at finding your own stones before continuing on to Sunday Morning Resort, a quiet lakeside property by Lake Pyhäjärvi set among old pine forests. Check into your Aamu Suite, with its two-level layout, glass wall facing the lake, and private sauna, and enjoy dinner at the on-site restaurant as part of your half board stay.

Snowmobile, Ice, and a Kota Lunch

Head out on a combined snowmobile and ice fishing day, one of the longer outings of the trip at around six hours. The route moves between the two activities with a kota lunch included along the way and hot drinks and snacks throughout. A full and satisfying day before returning to the resort for dinner.

Huskies and a Last Evening

The morning starts at a local husky farm for a 10km sled run through the surrounding forest, with hot drinks included. Back at the resort, the afternoon is free to spend by the lakeside sauna and wooden hot tub, or to walk the forest trails leading into the nearby national park. Dinner is included at the resort for a final evening by the lake.

Departure

After a final breakfast at the resort, return your winter clothing and transfer to Rovaniemi Airport for your flight home.
