Day 1 - Ivalo, Finland
Arrival in the Far North
You'll land at Ivalo Airport, retrieve your winter clothing and transfer to Aurora Village, a forest resort a short drive from the town. Check into your Aurora Tower, with its glass-roof upper bedroom and lounge below, and settle in. The resort has complimentary campfire sites, including a traditional kota and an open laavu shelter, available to guests throughout the stay, a good way to spend a quiet hour outdoors before or after dinner. Dinner is served at the on-site restaurant, where a three-course menu changes daily and is included as part of your full board stay.

Day 2 - Ivalo, Finland
Reindeer and the Night Sky
The morning takes you to a local reindeer farm for a group sleigh ride and time spent feeding and getting close to the animals. Back at the resort, the afternoon is free to make use of the complimentary equipment, whether snowshoes, toboggans, or ice skates, and to explore the surrounding forest. In the evening, a guided northern lights hunt heads out by car in search of clear skies, with your guide adjusting the route throughout the night to follow the aurora.

Culture in Inari
Head to Inari for a guided visit to the Siida Museum, the national museum of the Sami people and one of the most thoughtfully presented cultural sites in Finnish Lapland. The permanent collection covers Sami history, traditions, and the natural environment of the north in considerable depth. The afternoon is free back at the resort, where the private wood-heated barrel sauna by the river can be booked separately. In winter, an ice-swimming hole sits just outside, for those who want to take the plunge between rounds. Dinner is included at the restaurant.

A Morning with the Huskies
