City and Fjord in Tromsø

Tromsø rewards a slower visit, and six nights gives you time to see both sides of it. The first four nights are spent at St. Elisabeth Hotel & Spa, a boutique property close to the city center with an award-winning Nordic spa and a top-floor restaurant looking out over the fjord. The final two nights move to AERA, a collection of glass cabins directly on the fjord about thirty minutes outside the city, chosen for its distance from the lights and its open view of the sky. In between, the days cover a snowmobile safari, a northern lights hunt, a scenic road trip along the coast, a fjord cruise with local history woven in, and the cable car ride up Mount Storsteinen for a view over the city and surrounding islands.

Arrival in the City Center

You'll land in Tromsø and transfer to St. Elisabeth Hotel & Spa, a boutique property ten minutes from the airport and close to the city center. Check into your Superior Suite, with its own kitchen and views over the city, mountains, or sea depending on your room. A gourmet breakfast is included each morning, served with panoramic views over the city and fjord. The evening is free to settle in or make use of the hotel's Nordic spa.

Snow by Day, Sky by Night

A group snowmobile tour takes you out into the surrounding landscape, with around forty minutes of transportation before the safari itself begins. In the evening, a group northern lights hunt heads out from Tromsø in search of clear skies. The rest of the day is free to explore the city or return to the hotel spa.

Along the Coast

Take an Arctic Fjord Road Trip along the coast, with regular stops for photographs as the landscape shifts between fjord and open water, and a scenic picnic included along the way. The afternoon and evening are free back in Tromsø.

On the Water

Board a group cruise along the fjord, taking in the surrounding scenery while your guide shares the history and culture of the region along the way. The rest of the day is free to explore Tromsø at your own pace, with the hotel's top-floor restaurant a good option for a five-course dinner in the evening.

A View Over the City

Take the cable car up Mount Storsteinen for a sweeping view over Tromsø, the surrounding fjords, and the islands beyond, one of the best vantage points in the city. In the afternoon, check out of St. Elisabeth Hotel & Spa and transfer to AERA, a glass cabin resort directly on the fjord about thirty minutes outside the city. Check into your Panorama Glass Lodge, with panoramic views from bed and an aurora alarm to alert you if the lights appear overnight. Dinner is served directly to your cabin.

A Quiet Day on the Fjord

With no schedule for the day, you're free to make the most of the surroundings. Snowshoes are provided, and the area has several good walking tracks, including a route up the valley to a hilltop with sweeping views over the fjord. Back at the resort, the spa and sauna are available for a quiet afternoon, and dinner is again served directly to your cabin in the evening.
